The morning had gotten off to a good start, not only was this Isla’s release day from Starfleet Medical but she had also been offered, and accepted her very first posting as Chief Counsellor. As of yet she hadn’t got clue who the CO of the USS Churchill was but no doubt she’d find out once she got onboard.
“All ready to go?” Nurse Wild smiled as she walked into Isla’s room.
“You bet I am!” Isla smiled back. “That’s if the doc has seen fit to release me from here?”
Wild grinned as she held up a PADD. “One release form all signed and a copy sent to HQ. Just take it easy and take care of yourself Isla, you and your shipmates were lucky to survive and I don’t want to see you back here as a patient anytime soon!”
“You’re not so tough Amelia you know that?” Isla grinned. “Don’t worry I plan on living a long life, there’s still so much more to see out there! I don’t want to miss any of it.”
Amelia held up a hypo. “Your pain relief should you need it, how are you coping with your arm?”
“I’m coping” Isla offered a brief smile. “I lost my arm and I have a new one, it’s strange having an arm that doesn’t have the sensitivity of my original one but it’s better than not having an arm. Plus with our medical tech no one would know unless they stopped to really take a close look.”
Amelia nodded. “It’s still a lot psychologically, you’re the Counsellor Isla you know that.”
Isla nodded. “I know, I’ll tell my dad when I see him but over subspace just seeemed... wrong.” She sighed. “Anyway, I have a new assignment waiting and I don’t want to be late on my first day.” She picked up her bag.
“I’ll walk you out, it’s the least I can do for your help with the other patients while you’ve been here!” Wild grinned. “Your new Captain is getting a good Counsellor for his ship.”
“Thanks Amelia” Isla smiled offering a brief hug. “Let’s go, I’m ready for my new adventure.”

Pausing at the dockside Isla stood looking at the Galaxy Class ship before her. Compared to the Wildcat it looked absolutely huge! She had to admit she was looking forward to getting onboard and settling in. Holding her assignment details she made her way across the docking ring, showing security her paperwork as she went.
“Welcome aboard Counsellor” The security officer handed back her PADD.
“Thank you” Isla smiled warmly. This was going to be a whole new beginning.
